Brainstorming

*Why are you interested in this country and its relationship to the U.S?*
- I'm interested in this relationship between the U.S. and saudi Arabia becuase for one i've always wanted to visit there. Also becuase i thought it would be interesting in learning more about how the U.S. uses that to their advantage especially since the US and saudi Arabia Have been on good terms except for that womens rights conflict.

*What has struck you about its history and relatuonship to the united stated from our readings, and from other knowledge and experience you may have?*

- I think i was most amazed at the fact that Saudi Arabia is actually one of the richest oil countires in the world and most of us Depend on that oil. They also run that oil company OPEC.

*Based onyour reading and knowledge so far, do you hink the US'S relationship with this county supporys the thesis "The United States is an imperial power?*

- Yes i do believe this country supports this thesis. America can be of imperial power in many ways but hwta makes it more interesting is that in the past America has also taken sides and helped Saudi Arabia. So i want to find out how their relationship is now.

*What don't you know that you want to find out?
- Whats the give and take between the countries?
- How Saudi Arabia reacts to the demands of the US?
- Is there a hate between them?
- How much long can we survive off to their oil?

intresting. I wonder if they would be in conflict if Saudi Arabia had no oil at all. I just feel like america is exteamly money hungry and they need to keep good relationships whith anyone that can benefit them. You should compare other oil countries to the U.S. and see if their relationship is the same as saudi arbia then determin why they are different.

Yes - a question here would be does the oil give Saudia Arabia more power vis a vis the United States than other countries?

Great question Capri - have we seen how different ideologies have answered this question throughout the semester?

I think the topic is fascinating in the sense that we all pretty much know how the U.S has taken advantage of different countries. But in this case Saudi Arabia, the U.S is also trying to change some cultural values, by influencing woman's rights in the country. I'll love to see how u develop your essay and please stay focused on your main argument ;-) lol...

Some questions you might want to think about:

How does Saudi Arabia benefits from exporting OIL to the U.S which is a huge consumer?

How the U.S depends on Saudi Arabia for OIL and how will affect the U.S in case they stop importing oil from S.A?

Some statistic will be really interesting to see, on how much oil is imported from S.A!!!

On the woman topic, I think you should explain how they are treated and give examples of their limited rights on S.A.

How woman have responded in protest against this un-fairness? Do they even consider it unfair (since they have grown up seeing that)?
It will be really interesting, if you could explain their religion and how this affects woman in a sense.

GOOD LUCK =]
